This route is the newest and longest route to the top, offering ample time for acclimatization and a unique trek around the quieter northern slopes of the mountain.

Itinerary

Your adventure begins the moment you arrive in Tanzania. Enjoy the scenic transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to your hotel, where the lush landscapes and bustling local culture set the stage for the journey ahead. At your hotel, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the surroundings, visit local markets, or simply relax and take in the breathtaking views. This day is all about soaking in the vibrant atmosphere and preparing mentally and physically for the climb.

After a hearty breakfast, drive to Londorossi Gate for registration. Begin your trek through the lush rainforest, where the rich vegetation and diverse wildlife create an enchanting start to your adventure. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp, nestled at 2,820 meters, ready to rest and recharge.

Leave the rainforest behind and enter the heather and moorland zone. The trail becomes steeper as you ascend towards Shira 1 Camp at 3,500 meters. Marvel at the expansive views of the surrounding landscapes and the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro.

Cross the picturesque Shira Plateau with a gentle ascent to Shira 2 Camp at 3,850 meters. This day allows for acclimatization as you traverse the scenic plateau, taking in the panoramic vistas and unique geological features.

Embark on a trek to Lava Tower at 4,630 meters, an essential acclimatization point. Descend to Moir Hut at 4,200 meters, passing through the alpine desert and soaking in the spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.

Habitat: Semi-desert

Trek across the remote northern slopes of Kilimanjaro, enjoying a scenic climb over a series of ridges. Arrive at Buffalo Camp at 4,020 meters, where you can take in the serene atmosphere and panoramic views of the Kenyan plains.

Habitat: Semi-desert

Continue your trek through the alpine desert, with stunning views of the expansive Kenyan plains below. Arrive at Third Cave Camp at 3,870 meters, ready to rest and prepare for the final ascent.

Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
Habitat: Semi-desert

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner 

Ascend towards School Hut at 4,800 meters, the base camp for your summit attempt. Spend the afternoon resting and preparing for the final push to the summit, with breathtaking views all around.

Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner 

Begin your summit attempt around midnight, trekking through the Arctic zone to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters. Celebrate your achievement at the top of Africa before descending to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continuing down to Mweka Camp at 3,110 meters.

Hiking Time: 10-14 hours
Habitat: Arctic to Alpine Desert to Forest

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner 

Complete your descent through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate at 1,640 meters. Receive your summit certificates and celebrate your accomplishment before transferring back to your hotel for a well-deserved rest.
